At this time we are expecting that the Seward 4th of July events, including the Firecracker 50, are resuming their normal schedule for 2022.

Seward, recognized as America’s Small Town 4th of July City, hosts the state of Nebraska in an old-fashioned family celebration each July 4th. The Firecracker 50 is a lightly-supported, free public ride hosted by Great Plains Bicycling Club in conjunction with Seward’s July 4th activities. Lightly supported means that we provide a SAG support station with water and a limited selection of snack foods. The road route is entirely on paved roads between Seward and the towns of Brainard and Dwight. Distance options are 22 and 51 miles (or a distance in-between if you choose to turn around early!). A 55-mile gravel route is also available.

The ride starts at Living Word Lutheran Church, 1300 West Hillcrest Drive in Seward. Registration begins at 7:00 am; the ride starts at 7:30 am.

The road route can be viewed in Google Maps at this link.

The road route can also be downloaded as a PDF file.

The gravel route can be found here.
